US-PA-Wayne: Engineer – Commercial Solar


Philadelphia based Solar SBR (specify, bid, recommend) firm servicing mid market (200kw – 2MW) commercial solar electricity sector. We consult and execute solar projects with C level clients leveraging extensive partnerships with integrators, financial providers and international component suppliers. We are seeking a high-energy candidate with entrepreneurial skills – someone who can support the growth of a new business in all respects.
Experience:
• 5-7 years experience in project management in engineering/construction
• Relevant experience in commercial project engineering, preferably PV industry experience
• 2+ years of customer technical or application support experience with photovoltaic products, energy technologies, power control or related field, working directly with an installation network
• Experience in project financing and budgeting disciplines
• Experience working with licensed contractors
• Experience in construction industry would be an asset
• Demonstrated experience in creating customer documentation
• Superior communication skills – both written and oral and good listening skills.
• Competence with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Strong customer focused attitude

Educational requirements
• Bachelors degree (B.S. / B.Eng.) in electrical engineering, energy technologies, power control
• Professional engineer’s license would be considered as an advantage
• NABCEP certification or working towards certification
• Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, IBS, UL, IEEE, UBC etc.).
• NABCEP certification is preferred

Scope
• Provide engineering and technical support during all parts of the sales process
• Develop project timelines
• Develop and execute contracts with external service providers
• Basic knowledge of national, state/local design requirements for commercial solar projects
• Develop tools to estimate and manage project cost and timing
• Effectively communicate with engineers, architects, GCs, owners, electrical inspectors
• Pre-sales support to evaluate feasibility, develop preliminary designs, support sales and project bids.
• Develop electrical and structural designs for solar electric systems meeting national/state/local codes
• Coordinate bill of materials and supplier recommendations.
• Coordinate and validate required technical documents including electrical, structural, site plan drawings and related documents
• Provide technical input and establish procedures in development of site permitting and interconnection requirements.
• Evaluate project results and performance to implement internal continuous improvement measures.
• Prepare timely communication on design/project activities.
