Online along with some evening classes plus two hands-on Saturday labs installing grid tie and off grid systems on. This course builds upon the foundation of knowledge students acquire in the Basic Photovoltaic Systems course. After successful completion of course work in both the Basic and Advanced classes and additional field work, students will be able to: safely work with photovoltaic systems; conduct site assessments; adapt mechanical designs; adapt electrical designs; perform system checkouts and inspections; design, install, maintain and troubleshoot commercial and off-grid photovoltaic, battery based and hybrid systems. All instruction and curriculum is in accordance with the 2011 National Electrical Code. These classes, in combination with NABCEP required field experience, will qualify students to apply to sit for the NABCEP PV Installer Certification examination*.
